Rep. Budd Urges Germany to Designate All of Hezbollah as a Terrorist Organization
Washington D.C. - Representative Ted Budd (NC-13) released the following statement after sending a letter to Germany’s Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heiko Maas, asking him to designate Hezbollah’s political wing a terrorist organization:
“It is disappointing that the German Parliament failed to pass a law in June declaring Hezbollah’s political wing a terrorist organization. Hezbollah is a radical Islamic militant group and poses an existential threat around the world. It has a long history of carrying out terrorist attacks abroad, including in Germany, France, Bulgaria, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Argentina, Panama and Saudi Arabia. Its support for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has prolonged the conflict in Syria and led to the suffering of millions. It has repeatedly called for violence against America and the eradication of Israel. I encourage the German Parliament to follow in the footsteps of the United States, Canada, Israel, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Arab League and the Gulf Cooperation Council and designate the entirety of Hezbollah a terrorist organization, not just their military wing.”
Other Representatives signing onto this letter include: Chris Smith (R-NJ), Joe Wilson (R-SC), Steve Chabot (R-OH), Mark Meadows (R-NC), Scott Perry (R-PA), Brian Babin (R-TX), Lee Zeldin (R-NY), John Ratcliffe (R-TX), Francis Rooney (R-FL), Andy Biggs (R-AZ), and Chip Roy (R-TX).
