Washington D.C. - U.S. Representative Ted Budd (R-N.C.) released the following statement after sending a letter to the Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos, seeking clarification for grant allowances after reports of an anti-Semitic conference held at the University of North Carolina in conjunction with Duke University: “I have heard from a number of my constituents about a conference that took place last month at the University of North Carolina, in conjunction with Duke University. Their concern has to do with the alleged anti-Israeli bias and anti-Semitic rhetoric that took place there, and also the fact that taxpayer dollars were used to put on this conference. “While we should all be able to agree on the importance of protecting free speech - especially on college campuses, we should also agree that sending taxpayer dollars to fund anti-Semitic propaganda is absurd.” You can view the letter here. |
