Representative Ted Budd (R-NC) released the following statement on the American Health Care Act:
“If history is any guide I’ll take around 2,000 votes this Congress. Most of them will be forgotten. This is not one of those votes. This vote marks the beginning of the end of Obamacare as we know it. The failure of that law can be seen in the double-digit premium increases and monopoly situation in the individual insurance market in our state.
Ultimately, the legislative process is a human process with all the flaws that entails. The results of that process are never perfect, and this bill isn’t either. What I believe it will do is significantly reduce insurance premiums in our state, and help put the individual insurance marketplace on a more sound financial footing. This day has been a long time coming, and its cause lies in the determination of millions of Americans to reclaim power over their healthcare from the federal government. I’m proud to support the American Health Care Act.”
