Washington D.C. – U.S. Representative Ted Budd (R-NC) released the following statement after voting in favor of H.J.Res. 2 – Proposing a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution of the United States.
“Washington spending is out of control and the American people are rightfully fed up. Just last month, Congress passed the largest spending bill to date. American families have to make hard decisions to make sure their budgets are balanced and Washington should be no different. This is why I voted in favor of adding an amendment to our Constitution that would require Congress not spend more money than it takes in each year.” Budd said.
“This amendment is not only good on the merits, but its necessity is past due. If this amendment were to be adopted, it would take three-fifths of both the House and Senate to vote in favor of more deficit spending. Adopting this amendment would force Congress to make tough decisions, and it’s our duty to our constituents to make those and not to continue kicking the can down the road.”
