Washington, DC -- U.S. Representative Ted Budd (R-NC) released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 4909 STOP School Violence Act of 2018.

“There’s no doubt that our country has a school safety crisis, with the latest tragedy at a Florida high school being a tragic reminder," said Congressman Ted Budd. “Today, I voted in favor of a bipartisan bill that will beef up school security, direct funds to better assess school threats, and ensure our schools and law enforcement are fully trained to identify potentially violent behavior.

I have three kids who are all in their teenage years, and what happened in Florida hits home with Amy Kate and me. As parents, we want to ensure that the environments where our children are learning are as safe as possible.  I have visited schools across our district and met with teachers, students, PTO members, and law enforcement and the bill we passed today is a step in the right direction towards making our students safer.”
