Budd Fights Earmarks In House Rules Committee Hearing

The House has passed Dodd-Frank repeal, two budgets, Obamacare repeal, tax reform, and all twelve appropriations bills with the earmark ban in place. The notion that we’re trying to make the House work better doesn’t pass the smell test. Those who think that ‘bridges to nowhere’ are the path forward for getting Congress working again are taking advantage of the Senate’s dysfunction to advance their own agenda.

WASHINGTON -- In light of growing efforts in Congress to restore earmarking, US Representative Ted Budd (R-NC) spoke in strong opposition to lifting the 2011 earmark ban in the House Rules Committee.  After his appearance in the House Rules committee today, US Representative Ted Budd (R-NC) released the following statement opposing the reinstatement of earmarks:

“The House has passed Dodd-Frank repeal, two budgets, Obamacare repeal, tax reform, and all twelve appropriations bills with the earmark ban in place. The notion that we’re trying to make the House work better doesn’t pass the smell test.   Those who think that ‘bridges to nowhere’ are the path forward for getting Congress working again are taking advantage of the Senate’s dysfunction to advance their own agenda.”
