Rep. Ted Budd Proposal Would Make it Easier for Veterans and Retired Cops to Serve as School Resource Officers

Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC) introduced the National Education Security Training Act. The bill provides a tax credit of up to $1,500 per year for veterans and former law enforcement officers who serve as School Resource Officers (SROs).

Text of the bill can be found HERE

Rep. Budd said in a statement:

“No parent should have to worry about the safety of their child at school. That’s why every school in America needs to have sound safety measures including an armed School Resource Officer on duty every day. My bill would make it easier for veterans and retired police officers to continue their service to their community by protecting students and teachers as SROs.”
