Washington, D.C. -- Today, Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC) announced several new statements of support for the expedited installation of the statue of Rev. Billy Graham at the U.S. Capitol.

The effort is now endorsed by:

  • NC Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson

  • NC Senate President Pro Tempore Phil Berger

  • NC House Speaker Tim Moore

  • House Administration Committee Ranking Member Rodney Davis (R-IL)

    • (Who holds a seat on the Joint Committee on the Library)

  • U.S. Senator Richard Burr

  • U.S. Senator Thom Tillis

  • Rep. Richard Hudson

  • Rep. David Rouzer

  • Rep. Dan Bishop

  • Rep. Greg Murphy, M.D.

  • Rep. Madison Cawthorn

NC Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson said:

“Reverend Billy Graham truly was America's Pastor. His service through ministry impacted millions, and his dedication to proclaiming the Gospel saved countless lives across the world. It would be just to have a statue of him in the halls of our U.S. Capitol; so that the message he shared, may forever be heard.”

NC Senate President Pro Tempore Phil Berger said:

“I’m grateful to our Congressional delegation for their work to expedite a statue honoring one of the great men North Carolina gave the world, Rev. Billy Graham.”

NC House Speaker Tim Moore said:

“Reverend Graham, a beloved preacher who reached the world with the message of God's love and forgiveness, has left a legacy that will live on forever. The spiritual guidance of Rev. Billy Graham lives on in the hearts of his fellow North Carolinians since his passing. The placement of the monument of Rev. Graham in the U.S. Capitol will serve as a solemn memorial to his incredible impact on the faith of millions in our state and around the world.”

House Administration Committee Ranking Member Rodney Davis (R-IL) (who holds a seat on the Joint Committee on the Library) said:

“The National Statuary Hall Collection is one of the Capitol’s greatest treasures, and each State’s ability to contribute statues that celebrate its people should be honored and protected. The North Carolina General Assembly voted to add a statue of the late Reverend Billy Graham to this collection in 2015. It is inexcusable that the Joint Committee on the Library has delayed the approval process for over six years. I’m excited to support legislation that will put deadlines on the JCL to take action and look forward to the welcomed addition of the Billy Graham statue from the great state of North Carolina.”
