Washington, D.C. -- Today, H.R. 5142 passed the House unanimously. The bill will posthumously award the Congressional Gold Medal to the 13 U.S. military servicemembers who were killed in Afghanistan on August 26, 2021.

Rep. Budd helped introduce this bill on September 1st. The bill was led by Rep. Lisa McClain (R-MI).

Rep. Budd said in a statement:

“We will never forget the courage, valor, and selflessness of these 13 fallen heroes, and I am proud to help ensure that they are remembered forever with Congress’s highest honor. The men and women who serve our country put themselves in harm's way to save others every day. They are the best of our country and we are forever in their debt.”
