Rep. Ted Budd Sponsors Bill to Strip Federal Funds from States that Provide Driver's Licenses to Illegal Aliens
Washington, D.C. -- Rep Ted Budd (R-NC) has sponsored H.R. 5065, the Red Light Act. The bill would withhold federal highway funds from any state that grants a driver’s license or any form of identification to an illegal alien. The bill was introduced by Rep. Debbie Lesko (R-AZ).
Rep. Budd said in a statement:
“Those who break our country’s laws should not be given a legal form of ID. We want people to come to the United States the right way, the legal way, and we have to stop incentivizing people to enter our country illegally. I want to thank Rep. Lesko for introducing this important bill.”
