WASHINGTON, DC -- Today, U.S Representative Ted Budd (R-Nc) released the following statement after introducing the H.R 4959, the Working Families Relief Act. Under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act a parent with a zero income tax liability is eligible for a $1,400 refund. My bill would say that, if he or she paid more than that in payroll taxes, she’d be eligible to receive the entire $2,000 child credit refund. “Today’s children are tomorrow’s taxpayers and entrepreneurs, and as lawmakers we should mak...

The policies described in President Donald Trump’s State of the Union lay the foundation for a stronger and more secure country. In just the past year, Congress and the Trump Administration have worked together to deliver a booming economy, regulatory relief for small businesses, tax cuts for the middle class and a more constitutionally conservative judiciary.

John Boehner became speaker of the House in 2011, after the Republican Party picked up 63 seats as part of a popular reaction against President Obama’s health care law. One of Boehner’s first acts was to lead a successful effort to ban earmarks, pork-barrel projects funded at the request of individual members of Congress. The classic example was the infamous Alaskan “bridge to nowhere,” a $320 million federal project for a bridge bigger than the Golden Gate between two tiny Alaskan towns. Earmar...

The good news is that the pro-life movement has made progress over the last few years, even if it’s just marginal. Crazy as this sounds, twenty years ago it would have been nearly impossible to get Congress to vote on banning abortion after twenty weeks - the point at which science tells us a baby can feel pain. One of the votes I’m most proud to have taken last year was one that would ban abortion after 20 weeks. This common sense “Pain Capable” bill passed through the House with 237 votes and now, like many other promising bills, sits in the Senate awaiting action.

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Representative Ted Budd (R-NC) released the following statement regarding the re-opening of the U.S. government: “I’m glad that Senate Democrats came to the conclusion that shutting down the federal government over the issue of granting amnesty to millions of illegal aliens is not something the American people want. Last Thursday, I voted to keep our government open and this afternoon voted to end the Schumer Shutdown. It is my hope that Democrats have learned their lesson and...

"In 2012, the previous administration in my view went outside the law and granted around 800,000 illegal immigrants, ages 15 through 31, amnesty. This amnesty is called the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals – DACA for short. In September of last year, President Donald Trump cancelled DACA and set a March deadline for Congress to come up with a solution. Given that this topic’s been in the news over the past few weeks, many at home have asked for my views on the issue, and I thought I’d rela...
