The nomination cycle for the Class of 2022 is now open. The deadline for submitting applications is Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 5:00pm.
Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies: U.S. Military Academy (USMA), West Point, NY; the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), Annapolis, MD; the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), Colorado Springs, CO; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point, NY. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), New London, CT, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.
In order to be eligible for a nomination, you must be a U.S. citizen between the ages of 17 and 23, a resident of North Carolina’s 13th Congressional District, and unmarried with no dependents. You must also be in excellent academic standing and of high moral character. Acceptance of a service academy appointment requires a commitment of four years at an academy, followed by at least five years of military service.
